Who is Mark Petchey? Emma Raducanu’s rumoured new coach

Emma Raducanu is reportedly in talks with Mark Petchey as her next coach. Petchey briefly assisted her during the Miami Open, where she made her first WTA 1000 quarter-final, marking a potential new chapter in her career.

A former pro, Petchey reached a career-high of world No 80 and famously made Wimbledon’s third round in 1997. He later coached Andy Murray to early success and has also mentored top WTA players, including Maria Sakkari and Silvija Talaja.

Beyond coaching, Petchey is a respected tennis commentator with major roles on Tennis Channel, BBC, and Amazon Prime. If confirmed, his partnership with Raducanu may require balancing both roles.
